Maungatapu School received a $5k grant for STEM equipment in May of 2019 and used the funding to get a two microscopes, a drone, a television to relay visuals from the microscopes and a wide variety of pre-prepared slides for the microscopes. The students have used the equipment to study the local estuary and its flora and fauna with the aim of identifying environmental issues and researching solutions to protect this important waterway.
